LG is preparing to announce the specifications of the LG G5 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Barcelona at the end of February. The phone will see some changes from the LG G4, especially in its design.

LG will be removing the back buttons on the LG G5 and putting a dual sensor camera on the rear of the device, TechRadar reports.

No More Back Buttons

Droid Life spotted some images of rugged cases that are designed to protect the LG G5. In the images, the back of the phone is shown with its two camera sensors and a fingerprint sensor. The unlock button that was formerly on the back of the LG G4 does not appear on the LG G5. Additionally, the volume buttons have been moved from the back of the device to the side.

A different leak showing the case for the LG G5 revealed a USB-C port on the bottom of the device and the 3.5mm headphone jack on the top.

Case makers need to see prototypes of upcoming phones as early as possible so that they can have cases ready right when the phones are released. Case makers usually need a pretty good idea what the phone will look like, so these leaked photos could very well accurately reflect the final product to be revealed.

LG Chooses Metal Over Plastic

LG will probably ditch the leather and plastic look that made the LG G4 unique. The company is falling behind competitors like Apple and Samsung by not using an all-metal body. The LG G5 should be fully metal and no plastic.

The screen on the LG G5 will likely be a 2K resolution 5.6-inch display. This would be a similar screen to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7, which is also set to use a 2K resolution screen.

Like most flagship smartphones in 2016, the LG G5 is expected to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. This chip is highly anticipated and will make smartphones much faster than older models.

One final rumor indicates a removable battery on the LG G5. Most smartphones on sale today do not offer removable batteries, which means users can't simply carry an extra battery, or buy a new one when the old battery stops holding a charge. The LG G5, according to the rumor, would offer a slide out battery tray similar to the slide out tray used for SIM cards.

LG plans to hold a press conference on Feb. 21 at MWC. The press conference is one day before the actual start of MWC, but the press has been invited to hear the announcement for the LG G5.
