Spanish club Real Madrid showed its full support to honorary member and tennis superstar Rafael Nadal. This is amid the doping accusations made by former French Secretary of Sports Roselyne Bachelot last March 8 on French TV show "Le Grand 8."

"Rafa Nadal represents the fundamental values of sport. His greatness and his incredible achievements have always been based upon a foundation of exemplary conduct, unwavering work, talent and astonishing levels of commitment," the official statement said.

Los Blancos insisted that Bachelot's accusations are "unjustifiable and unacceptable." The club also noted that having Nadal as a club member is an honor as he's an example of excellence for many fans and people around the world.

Madrid manager and French legend Zinedine Zidane said that he feels bad for the former world number one because Nadal is a person of values. "He is a professional and I know him a little. I feel bad for what they have said," Zidane commented.

'Rafa' Denies Doping Accusations

"I am a completely clean guy. I have never had the temptation of doing something wrong. When I get injury, I get injury. I never take nothing to be back quicker," Nadal said.

The 14-time Grand Slam champion was accused by Bachelot of failing a drug test in 2012 during which Nadal was out for seven months due to injury. However, the former French sports minister said that the injury was just a cover up for a positive drug test.

"We know that Nadal's famous seven-month injury was without a doubt due to a positive drug test," Bachelot said.

The 29-year-old has never failed a drug test in his career but has used stem cell and platelet-rich plasma therapies for his knee injuries. Nevertheless, Bachelot joins 2011 French Open winner Yannick Noah and retired Belgian player Christophe Rochus, who have accused the Spaniard of doping.

Nadal's lawyer is already working on a possible legal action against the former French sports minister for heraccusations. Besides Real Madrid, Chicago Bulls star Pau Gasol has also given his support to Nadal.

NBA Star Pau Gasol Defends His Friend

"I disregard these statements that are baseless and lacking objective elements. I completely trust Rafa," Gasol said. The 35-year-old defended his friend after the Bulls' blowout loss against the Miami Heat last Friday.

Gasol and Nadal are really good friends. The two, along with singer Enrique Iglesias, own a restaurant in Madrid called "Tatel." It was opened back in May 2015 and there are plans to open other branches in the United States, United Kingdom and Mexico.
