Major Tennis stars are making their way through the U.S. Open 2016 as the event approaches its second week with big scores from big names like Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, Scotland’s Andy Murray and Spain’s Rafael Nadal.

US Open Novak Djokovic

Djokovic started the U.S. Open games with a big win despite is arm injury. The No. 1 seed tore through the tournament with just a short break for a medical timeout and then stole the show, slamming Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz in the opening rounds.

“To be honest, I take it day by day…” Djokovic told ESPN following his match. “I’m pleased that as the match progressed I was feeling better and better. I hope that I’ll feel overall good so I’m able to perform at my best for the next match.”

Odds were against Djokovic in his next game against Czech’s Jiri Vesely since the 23-year-old beat the top tennis player earlier this year in Monte Carlo. Luckily for Djokovic, Vesely withdrew from the U.S. Open due to an arm injury.

Novak Djokovic Schedule

The Serbian is scheduled to play the Men’s Singles Round 3 against Russian’s Mikhail Youzhny Friday Sept. 2 at 3 p.m. EST. Will the No. 1 seed remain one of the top U.S. Open 2016 favorite’s after Friday’s game?

Youzhny had put up a good fight through the 2016 U.S. Open as well, taking out his last component like it was nothing. It will not be an easy fight, especially since Djokovic has had three days to rest since Vesely pulled out of the games.

US Open Andy Murray

Djokovic is not the only favorite in the recent U.S. Open games. Scottish player, Murray, No. 2 seed and Olympian, is also winning the hearts of fans. He took out Czech’s Lukas Rosol in the opening rounds.

Murray also beat Spain’s Marcel Granollers, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2, in the Men’s Singles Second Round. How will Murray do the third round?

US Open Rafael Nadal

Nadal is making a big name for himself as well in the U.S. Open this year. He upset Italy’s Andreas Seppi 6-0, 7-5, 6-1 in Wednesday’s games despite issues with his forehand. He is expected to slam his next component given his latest match results.
