Fans will get the best opportunity of witnessing a horse with a legitimate chance of going on to complete the Triple Crown in this weekend's 2014 Preakness Stakes. Having a clear edge above the rest of the field, the overwhelming favorite California Chrome joins the Run for the Black-Eyed Susans. Chrome recently exhibited a convincing victory at the Kentucky Derby, where he broke away from the opponents, thereby creating a comfortable lead and pretty much making it clear that he was going to be the winner. Since that victory, the 10-horse Preakness field has set post positions and morning-line odds where Chrome is one of the top favorites. The lead is so big as to be one of the largest in race history.

However, it sill cannot be said that Chrome has the rights to join the same category of horses such as Seattle Slew and Affirmed. It can only be established that he is among the best when the race begins this time at Pimlico. Everyone will be watching in excitement and anticipation as Chrome races in his pursuit for greatness. Only two other horses among the other nine are suspected to have the athletic ability and prowess to keep pace with the now crowd favorite Chrome. One is a returning challenger who just came off a quite unsatisfactory Derby and the other one is a newcomer who is looking to impress viewers with what he can do in the racing scene.

Races will be at the Pimlico Race Course, which is in Baltimore, Maryland. The Preakness Stakes horse race will be held on May 17, 2014, with the undercard coverage starting at 1:00 p.m. It will be aired on NBC Sports Network. Thoroughbreds race coverage, on the other hand, will begin at 4:30 p.m. on the same network. Main draw will be at approximately 6:28 p.m. EDT. Live streaming will also be available via NBC Sports Live Extra.
