The Chicago Bears' star wide receiver isn't going anywhere. Brandon Marshall and the Chicago Bears agreed to a three year contract extension that will pay him an extra $30 million.

Marshall previously had just one year remaining on his contract and was scheduled to become a free agent next off-season. The Bears offense has been a high-powered passing attack ever since they traded for Marshall two years ago, from the Miami Dolphins.

In his two seasons with the Chicago Bears, Marshall has over 2,700 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 218 receptions. Marshall has received over 1,000 yards each of the last seven seasons, the longest streak in the National Football League. The Bears have recently been transferring from defensive to offensive oriented and with Marshall locked up for the next four years, this will remain.

Quarterback Jay Cutler has a great connection with Marshall. The two previously played with each other on the Denver Broncos in the AFC West and did very well together. Marshall and Cutler have played the last two seasons together in Chicago, but still haven't been able to make the playoffs as a pair. As a matter of fact, Brandon Marshall has never played in a playoff game yet in his career.

The NFC North is already full of talented high powered passing attacks such as the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers. When you play in a division with high scoring offenses like those, you will need to score points and pass the football.

Some people will argue that the Bears should have saved the money for the defensive side of the football, where it was needed more. The Bears pass defensive has shown time and time again they are unable to even contain Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Maybe saving up for a corner back or another pass rusher. Marshall has had some issues with drops in the past as well.

The Bears No. 2 option at receiver, Alshon Jeffery had over 1,400 yards last season. This could be potentially be an elite receiving threat for opposing defenses to deal with in the future.
