A bachelor's party was being held in a steakhouse in Charleston, South Carolina, when the 63-year-old and twice-divorced Bill Murray suddenly barged in. It turns out that Murray was in the same steakhouse at the time and without any hesitation, he starts giving advice to the groom, all the while injecting humor into his wise words. He even asked the groom's friends if they approve of the woman or not and got a boisterous and cheery yes from the groom's friends.

Murray's Wedding Advice

  • Make a plan to party and get married once you have found the real one
  • Travel with the person, to other places in the world or to hard-to-reach places, and if you still love the person when you get back to the airport then get married
  • Bachelor's parties are for the single men and not for the groom

He then lifted the groom up on his shoulders amidst the groom's cheering friends. Murray was first seen by a friend of the groom while sitting alone downstairs. They offered him a drink through a waiter but it was declined. Murray was then approached by one of the groom's friends, who requested that he give a piece of advice to EJ, the groom, but he again refused. However, he later surprised the men when he suddenly barged in and did in fact offer advice to the groom.

The actor has two previous failed marriages. His first wife was Margaret Kelly with whom he lived for 15 years (1981-1996), while his second marriage was to Jennifer Butler, which ended in divorce in 2008. He and Butler lived together for 11 years.

Murray was accused by Butler of physical abuse, infidelity and alcohol addiction before they separated. Other issues, according to Butler, made her decide to move their sons to a new place. It seems that Murray's failed marriages taught him the values needed to keep a marriage going as well as knowing when and when not to get married.
