Watch out, techies, the unveiling of the next must-have phablet is less than a month away. Invitations for Samsung's Unpacked event in Berlin were sent out this week, and the company had no problem dropping clues as to what the major topic of conversation will be.

The invitations, which were sent out to a variety of different news outlets, had "Note The Date" written on the cover, alluding to the likely premier of the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The two previous versions of the phone also debuted at the same event in previous years.

"It's official: the "next Galaxy"(read, the Note 3) will be formally introduced to the world on September 4 2013. Samsung has just sent out invites for the event, and one of the landed in our inbox. The event will start at 7PM CEST, which is 1PM New York time," reported tech site Android Authority.

So what kind of news can we expect from the decision-makers at Samsung? Well, as usual they remain tight-lipped about the more savory details, but that hasn't stopped people from speculating as to what the Note 3 might bring to the table.

"So far, Samsung has been able to keep the Note 3's specs under wraps, but rumors suggest that the device may use a 5.7-inch 1080p screen -- up from the 5.5-inch 720p display on the Note II -- and could possibly be equipped with a new Samsung Exynos or Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor," writes IGN.

With its peculiar size, the Note brand was the first phone to be a tweener: not quite a phone, not really a tablet. Many have taken to unceremoniously calling such phone-tablets "phablets," a name that the Note 3 will likely live up to if its size is anything like its predecessors.

The Unpacked event by Samsung is scheduled to take place just before the annual IFA electronics conference begins in Berlin. Can't make it all the way out to Germany to take in some of the festivities? No worries, Samsung will be holding a live broadcast event and "first hands-on experience of the next Galaxy" for the media in Times Square at 1 p.m. ET.
