Sony today officially announced a major PlayStation 4 system software update. The latest update will bring several new features to the system in order to make life easier for every PlayStation 4 console owner.

According to The Next Web, the most useful change incorporated in Update 4.50 is the introduction of Boost Mode. This setting for PlayStation 4 Pro owners will make it a lot easier to play multiple legacy titles which have not been patched for the PlayStation 4 Pro just yet.

Players who opt-in would also get a framerate boost and potentially shorter load times. However, the Japanese tech company warns that it might not work for all titles.

Owners of Sony's PlayStation VR set are also in luck, as the said update also brings in the ability to watch 3D Blu-ray movies in-headset. Sony is also fine-tuning how 2D images would appear within the VR realm, including the PlayStation 4 menus.

According to Tech News Tube, the new update will also add several major changes for vanilla PlayStation 4 owners as well. Probably the most significantly important one is the much-needed HDD support, which allows users to store applications and data on external hard drives of up to 8TB in size.

Many Vanilla PS4 owners think of this as a huge plus, considering that the PlayStation 4's built-in hard drive is only at the 500GB worth of storage. Other interesting and useful updates includes letting users chat with friends while playing a game with Remote Play, as well as being able to post text and screenshots directly to their Activity Feed, similar to every social media platform.

Players are also given the option to customize their wallpaper with screenshots, as well as choosing their notifications from a simplified list. The PlayStation 4 Update 4.50 will officially roll out tomorrow.

With this, the market for the PlayStation 4 Pro and its corresponding VR headsets would surely increase. Hopefully, there will be no glitches or other supply shortages to hamper its successful sales streak.
