Facebook, the biggest social media site in the world, recently announced its new feature both on Messenger and Instagram.

This new feature is called the 'Vanish Mode'  that makes the message disappear after they are seen by the recipient.

How does it work?

According to USA Today, Facebook users can turn on and use the new feature easily. This can be used by swiping up on their mobile device in and existing chat thread.

Additionally, if users want to return to the original messaging mode, they just have to swipe up on their screen again and have the regular chat screen.

Bridget Pujals, Messenger Product Manager, and Manik Singh, Instagram Product Manager, released a statement and said," We designed vanish mode with safety and choice in mind, so you control your experience."

This new feature will also give users more privacy and will give them a choice either to retain the message or not.

Additionally, the new feature 'Vanish Mode' will not only give privacy to the users but security as well.

The Messenger and Instagram will notify their users if someone will take a screenshot of personal and group conversation while using the 'Vanish Mode' feature.

However, this new feature is not yet available to everyone. Facebook said that they will start to roll out the 'Vanish Mode' on Messenger in the U.S. and will, later on, be rolled out in other countries in Europe.

Meanwhile, the 'Vanish Mode' on Instagram will be available in the U.S. in the coming weeks.

The news about Facebook's and Instagram's new features come after WhatsApp- also owned by Facebook- launched its new feature that makes the message disappear after seven days.

This is just one of the new developments of the messaging media site.

WhatsApp released its official statement and said that either person in a one-on-one chat can turn disappearing messages on or off. In group chats, administrators will have control.

This means that only the administrator in WhatsApp can turn on or off the 'Vanish Mode.' The statement also reads:

"We're starting with 7 days because we think it offers peace of mind that conversations aren't permanent while remaining practical so you don't forget what you were chatting about. Our goal is to make conversations on WhatsApp feel as close to in-person as possible, which means they shouldn't have to stick around forever."

This feature will help the user to feel more comfortable and have a sense of privacy.

While Facebook and Instagram will roll out their new feature in selected places, the 'Vanish Mode' of WhatsApp can be used and accessed to all of its users.

One important thing that WhatsApp users should know to the enabling instruction is that the message will disappear if the user does not open the WhatsApp in seven days.
