On Sunday afternoon, a McDonald's drive-thru in Chicago turned into a crime scene after a seven-year-old girl was killed in a shooting at around 4 PM in the Windy City's Homan Square neighborhood.

The victim was identified as Jaslyn Adams. She sustained multiple shots before being rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The girl's 28-year-old father was also severely injured during the incident.

The pair were waiting in their car for their food when the shooting took place.

As of the moment, authorities are still searching for the suspect of the horrific crime. There is still no information on how or why the shooting occurred.

Footage of the shooting taken by those who were at the scene showed police officers pulling out the seven-year-old and taking her to the police car in a race to get her quickly to the hospital. There were several witnesses to the shooting who were able to take videos, Hastings Tribune reported.

In one of the videos, a bystander can be heard stating that someone killed a baby.

After the shooting, the 28-year-old father, Jontae Adams, immediately called his mother and told her what happened to his daughter.

In a statement to Chicago Sun Times, the seven-year-old's grandmother, Lawanda McMullens, said that her son was frantic when he called her to come and get her because his child was shot.

The seven-year-old girl was nicknamed 'Pinky' by her family and schoolmates at Cameron Elementary School. Her family stated that the nickname was given to her due to her bright personality and because her favorite color was pink.

Meanwhile, Jaslyn's aunt, Tawny McMullen, described the victim as a sweet and beautiful child.

Possible 'Gang-Related' Violence

On the other hand, the Medical Examiners Office of Cook County confirmed that Jaslyn was shot multiple times before she finally died. It was also stated that her father sustained a gunshot wound in the torso during the horrific incident, Daily Mail reported.

The pair's car was also covered in bullet holes, and several shell casings were found inside and surrounding the vehicle.

Jaslyn and her father were both taken to John Stroger Hospital, where her father is currently being treated due to his serious condition. The seven-year-old girl was also pronounced dead in the same hospital.

The police believe that the shooting that killed Jaslyn is gang-related.

Despite the speculations of gang-related violence, the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are still not clear. There are still no suspects in custody, and the detectives are still in the middle of their investigation.

In light of the event, Marvin Edwards, the president of an advocacy group against gun violence, 100 Men Standing, encouraged witnesses and anyone who has information related to the incident to come forward.

Edwards pleaded to those who know the suspect to immediately give information to help in expediting the investigation. He added that it is devastating to know that this could happen to a girl who was just trying to get something to eat.
