It was previously announced that the music video for Lady Gaga's "Do What U Want" would be released back in December 2013. However, it never materialized. Some of the excuses given by Lady Gaga mentioned betrayal and time constraints. For most people, those explanations were unsatisfactory, especially since her duet with R. Kelly received rave reviews.

Then music video leaked yesterday, June 19, and provided the reason why its release might have been delayed.

The "Artpop" album, on which "Do What U Want" is one of the tracks, comprises themes of empowerment, sex and fame.

In the leaked video clip, R. Kelly plays doctor, doing a checkup on a naked Lady Gaga, who lies on an examining table with a sheet up to her armpits. She moans when R. Kelly reaches under the sheet. Then, a party scene takes place in the same location, which was supposed to be a clinic, with a number of scantily clad nurses. Kelly smokes a cigar while the nurses toy with and crawl over Lady Gaga, who appears to be comatose. The next scene shows her naked in another room, either fully or partially covered with sheets of newspaper, sometimes showing more of her uncovered body explicitly writhing in front to Terry Richardson, who was shown taking pictures.

But it seems that just being sexually explicit was not what caused the "Do What U Want" video to be scrapped.

Gossip magazine Page Six suggested that the reason for the non-release of the video was because of the controversy involving the video collaborators.

R. Kelly was once tried for child porn, although he was acquitted of the charges. Richardson, on the other hand, is still dealing with the harassment and sexual assault accusations that have been filed by several models last December. While the famous photographer has refuted the charges, it is not something that will go away anytime soon. It seems that the charges against Richardson were what prompted Lady Gaga and her people to pull back the release of the music video. It is most likely not because of R. Kelly because his alleged child pornography crimes happened 13 years ago.
