Casey DeSantis has been married for more than a decade to Florida governor Ron DeSantis, who has been hitting the headlines because of some Florida policies, such as the mask mandate and recently the "Don't Say Gay" bill.

Ron was sworn in the office of the governor of Florida on January 8, 2019, and since then, he's headbutting with President Joe Biden's administration. But who is the woman behind the Florida governor?

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' Wife Casey DeSantis

Casey DeSantis has been the first lady of Florida ever since Ron DeSantis has become the state's governor.

According to the U.S. Sun, the Florida first lady has opened up about their new roles and raising their three children, Madison, Mason, and Mamie, in an interview a few months after the Republican governor took office.

It was the first time in five decades that young children would be residing in the governor's mansion in the city of Tallahassee.

Casey said in an interview at the time that they were just going to make sure that their little children would not be destroying any of "Florida's irreplaceable history," adding that there were many wonderful and neat artifacts around.

Before being Florida's first lady, Casey is a former television news anchor and host. She was raised in Ohio and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Charleston in South Carolina.

Ron DeSantis met her wife in a game of golf while she was working in television news in Florida. Casey told First Coast News in 2018 that she and Ron met at the University of North Florida at the driving range off Kernan.

Casey has been dubbed the Republican governor's secret weapon, being an award-winning journalist and once champion equestrian.

She said she was looking at the golf balls when Ron thought she was looking at him, which got him to talk to each other.

Casey DeSantis described her husband as someone who pushes her in the right direction to succeed, adding that she thinks "that's very special."

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' Wife Casey DeSantis Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

In December, Casey DeSantis opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis, saying that it can happen to anybody, and one can save themselves from so much pain and anguish if they go in early and get those screenings.

Casey's diagnosis was first revealed in early October, according to WTSP. The Florida first lady said a thought that something was wrong, even though she felt fine, was what brought her to the OBGYN's office.

At the time, she noted that her doctor did not feel anything but her feeling that something was wrong kept "nagging" at her. It pushed her to call back, and she went in for a mammogram screening a month later.

In March, Ron DeSantis announced that his wife was already cancer-free, ABC Action News reported. Casey finished her final chemotherapy treatment in January.

Ron thanked everyone who has given thoughts and prayers to his family and his wife. He added that Casey had more to do and was confident that his wife would make a full recovery.

Casey DeSantis said there were no words to express how "truly blessed, grateful, and humbled" to hear that she is now cancer-free. The Florida first lady added that there was always hope for "those who are in the fight."
