Trevor Noah officially hopped in the issue of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022.

On Monday, "The Daily Show" host discussed what he thinks about Will Smith getting banned from attending the Oscars following the violence he committed at the awards show, according to Us Weekly.

Noah joked that when he first read the headlines, he thought it was the worst punishment the "King Richard" star can receive.

"But then I got into the details and I realized that he gets to keep his Oscar and he can still win Oscars, even though he's banned. So in many ways, this isn't a punishment. This is a favor," Noah underscored, per The Wrap.

However, Trevor Noah thinks that the Academy should have consulted Chris Rock before issuing their punishment to Smith.

"If Will were still going to the Oscars, that's at least four hours where Chris Rock knows where he is... Now, he could be anywhere," Noah joked.

Trevor Noah also suggested that the Academy should have hired Will Smith to replace the wrap-it-up music that is played at awards show instead of banning the actor.

"Do you know how quickly winners will finish their speeches when they see Will Smith watching them from the side of the stage?," Noah sarcastically asked, per The Wrap.

Trevor Noah Discusses Benefits of Will Smith Slap

"The Daily Show" host also jokingly explained the benefits of Will Smith not going to the awards, claiming that the actor does not have to go to the ceremony and he does not have to get dressed up for the occasion.

Noah added that Smith will not have to sit on a bunch of boring awards and the actor does not have to pretend that he is happy even though he loses.

The talk show host then joked that hoped he can get the same punishment from the Emmys.

"Every year I have to go and act like I might beat John Oliver. It's a nightmare," Noah pointed out.

It was not Trevor Noah's first time poking fun at Will Smith and Chris Rock's Oscars 2022 drama.

The talk show host also made a sly dig at the issue when he opened the Grammys at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Evening Standard reported.

During that time, Noah claimed that the people at the Grammys will have a good time urging the people to not think of the event like an awards show, instead, treat it like a concert where awards will be given.

"We're going to be listening to some music, we're going dancing, we're going to be singing, we're going to be keeping people's names out of our mouths," Noah said.

It can be recalled that Smith's infamous line to Chris Rock during the Oscars 2022 was "keep my wife's name out of you f*****g mouth."

Will Smith and Chris Rock

Chris Rock and Will Smith made headlines when the actor went onto the stage of Oscars 2022 and slap the comedian after he joked about Jada Pinkett Smith.

Smith issued an apology to Chris Rock a day after the incident. However, the Academy still decided to ban him from attending the awards show for at least 10 years.

On Saturday, Chris Rock refused to talk about the incident during his show in Palm Springs, California, unless he will be paid to talk about it.

Will Smith slapping the comedian also led to calls from Academy members, like Harry Lennix, to return his Oscars. However, the Academy insisted in a statement that it does not have the authority to claim the actor's Oscars back.
