Amber Heard broke down in tears on Monday as she recalled how she decided to file for divorce from his ex-husband, Johnny Depp.

Heard was speaking during the continuation of Depp's defamation case against her after a week-long hiatus, Lad Bible reported.

Heard continued to give her testimony but she was not able to hold back her emotion when she was asked about an audio recording of an argument between her and the actor.

The actress then explained that the recording talks about her not wanting to refer to herself as a victim and that she does not want Depp to think that she is attacking him or blaming him.

"I'm pointing out I didn't cooperate with the police, that I didn't want to get him in trouble. That I didn't want to hurt him," Heard underscored.

The "Aquaman" actress also pointed out that she only asked Depp to not call her a liar.

"Just don't say this isn't real, because I'm the walking proof of it," Heard said, referring to her experiences with Depp.

Heard then highlighted that her decision to file for divorce in 2016 was driven by survival. She expounded that she was scared that it will end for her badly and she did not want to leave him because he loved Depp so much.

The actress further noted that the "promise and hope" became rare while the violence became "normal" during their marriage.

"It was so hard but I knew I had to do it... what if he had taken it too far, I wouldn't be here," Heard stressed.

Amber Heard Trial: Actress Admits Failing to Pay Her ACLU Pledge

Amber Heard also admitted on Monday that she was not able to pay her pledged $3.5 million donations to The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), after she claimed that she donated, according to the Daily Mail.

The actress then placed the blame on her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, claiming that she was not able to donate her entire $7 million divorce settlement to the organization because Johnny Depp kept on suing her.

Heard added that she was not able to make the full donation because Depp also sued him in March of 2019 for $50 million.

Heard noted that she plans to fully honor her pledges and she would love it if the actor would stop suing her.

Heard previously claimed several times that she has donated her entire settlement to charity. In an interview with Dutch talk show RTL Late Night in 2018, Heard claimed that the $7 million divorce settlement was divided between the ACLU and the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

However, ACLU Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel Terence Dougherty testified that Heard has only given them a total of $1.3 million. That amount is reportedly composed of money from Heard, Depp, Fidelity Fund, and Investment firm Vanguard believed to be set up by Elon Musk.

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp Lawsuit

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are battling over a 2018 op-ed the actress penned, in which she painted herself as a domestic violence survivor.

ACLU revealed in late April that their organization took part in conceiving, drafting, and placing the op-ed that used the actress's experiences to address violence against women and other issues.

Depp was not mentioned in the article, but he claimed that he was removed from several movies because of it. The actor is seeking $50 million in damages.

Meanwhile, Amber Heard issued a counterclaim amounting to $100 million for nuisance.
