Shakira's split with her boyfriend, Gerard Pique, did not surprise the Colombian singer's family at all.

The confirmation was made by the "Waka Waka" singer's sister, Lucila Mebarak Ripoll, when asked by "Sabado Deluxe" collaborator, Laura Fa, Marca reported.

"The separation of Shak and Gerard was something we were already expecting," Ripoll noted, without explaining why they were not surprised by the former couple's decision.

It was unclear when Ripoll was interviewed.

Shakira's sister also shared where the Colombian singer is after her breakup.

Through her communicator, Shakira's sister noted that the "Whenever Wherever" singer is currently outside of Spain. Ripoll also noted that they will see her very soon. However, she did not disclose the specific place where Shakira is and what she is up to after their split.

Meanwhile, Ripoll confirmed that soccer player Gerard Pique no longer stays in their house, where he used to live with Shakira and their sons.

"Piqué has been living alone in his bachelor apartment for three months," Shakira's sister noted.

Shakira and Gerard Pique Split

The comment from Shakira's sister came a day after the Colombian singer and the Spanish soccer player confirmed their split through their public relations firm, according to Associated Press.

"We regret to confirm that we are separating... For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding," the two said in their statement.

It can be recalled that the singer and the athlete share two sons, Sasha and Milan.

Shakira and Gerard have not yet opened up about the real reason for their breakup. However, Laura Fa maintained that a third party was involved in the separation of the stars, per Marca. The television show collaborator pointed out that a 22-year-old woman with blonde hair was the cause of the duo's split, contending that they have photos of the woman and the soccer player together.

Fa went on to say that the other woman worked for Pique's event company.

"We can't bring her [the woman] to light because she is anonymous," the television collaborator underscored.

Their breakup came after Spanish media reported that Pique had left his family's home in Barcelona and had been living alone in the city.

In an interview with Elle in 2013, Shakira expressed how her view on love changed when she met Gerard.
