Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have refused an open invitation extended by Prince Charles to stay with him at his Scottish holiday house on the Balmoral estates.

Daily Mail reported that Charles once told the couple that "they were always welcome" at the Balmoral before their trip to the United Kingdom, according to palace sources.

Insiders noted that Charles had thought the Sussex couple staying with him would be a "good opportunity for everyone to take stock and relax." The source added that the invitation was rejected as it has been before. The same person said that the Prince of Wales has not "wavered" on his efforts to have a relationship with the Duke of Sussex.

The Sussex couple is travelling to Manchester on Monday, where Markle is set to give a speech about gender equality.

Yahoo News noted that Harry and Markle are participating in their favorite charities and reportedly hiring a "heavy, private security firm" for their U.K. trip. The couple has asked the security firm to provide a "ring of steel" in Manchester for their appearance at the One Young World young leaders' forum.

Great Manchester Police spokesman confirmed that its officers were not involved in providing security for the Sussex couple. The spokesman added that the security for the event had been "privately sourced."

Two different dog teams were deployed at the venue on Sunday, which includes one from private firm Global Support Services. The firm is known to provide protection dogs, specialist detection dogs, and close protection, among others.

A team of cleaners was also on site. The area with 2,300-seat will be cleared before the couple arrives.

Prince Charles at Balmoral

Charles was spotted at Balmoral without the Queen during a traditional Sunday church service. The Queen has reportedly remained at home.

Another Daily Mail reported that Queen Elizabeth has been staying in the Scottish Highlands during her summer break since July.

The Queen was not seen in public since travelling to her summer home in July. Prince Charles has been stepping into the Queen's role as he attended the Braemer Gathering in her stead last week, which has raised more concerns about the Queen's health.

Insiders noted that Queen Elizabeth has stayed away to ensure she is in her prime health condition to welcome the 15th Prime Minister at Balmoral.

The Queen has been adamant that she will not need Prince Charles' presence during the welcoming of a new Prime Minister at her Balmoral home.

Charles has also represented the Queen at the Highland Games. The Prince of Wales used garden shears to cut a heather rope and unveiled a new £80,000 to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee last year.

President of the Braemar Royal Highland Society, Peter Fraser, said they were sad that the Queen could not come as she had been "a worthy patron all these 70 years."

However, he added that they understood why Her Majesty could not attend.
