A royal author accused Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of making their fortune "solely by damaging and destroying the royal family."

In an interview with "Good Morning Britain" on Monday, Tom Bower said the Sussex couple were "destroying the royal family to promote their own fortunes," prestige, and brand.

Bower noted that he thinks Harry and Meghan should no longer be allowed to call themselves Duke and Duchess since they were "profiting off their status" and, in the process, disparaging the royal family, SheKnows reported.

The royal author added that the only way the Sussex couple can be "undermined" and decreased importance in America is to have their royal titles removed.

Bower said he thinks that Harry and Markle "trade" on their royal ranking by "trashing Britain" and flaunting themselves "as the Duke and Duchess and the Prince."

The royal author further noted that the Sussex couple's Oprah interview has been "hugely damaging to the royal family. According to Newsweek, Bower said the duke and duchess told "17 lies" during the Oprah Winfrey interview.

Bower made the comment after historian Tessa Dunlop challenged a number of factual claims Bower made in his book titled "Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors" after its publication.

Prince Harry's Memoir and The Royal Family

Prince Harry's upcoming memoir was recently edited with a new chapter dedicated to the late Queen Elizabeth II. There will also be material on how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were "snubbed."

According to Bazaar, a source told The Sun that the Sussex couple's former staff members are "convinced" that the book is being written to "settle scores," and will possibly include many details regarding their time with the royal family.

According to the same source, some of the former staff distrust that there will be a complete and accurate picture presented. The royal family was reportedly worried about the memoir's release in 2023.

Bower claimed that the royal family has been "hugely nervous" about what will be revealed in the memoir. Prince Harry earlier said the intent and purpose of publishing the memoir is to show his humanity, adding that he wrote it as "the man I have become."

Royal Titles of the Sussex Family

Tom Bower has warned that the new monarch could strip the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of their titles, adding that King Charles III could also withhold Archie and Lilibet's titles over Harry's memoir, "Spare."

Bower noted that the Duke of Sussex's book is "really make or break," Mirror reported. Some reports suggest that the new King has no desire to strip Harry's royal titles.

According to Daily Mail, King Charles recently announced that he will be the next Captain General of the Royal Marines, an honorary military role stripped from Harry after they stepped down from their royal duties.

At first, Prince William was expected to succeed Harry as Captain General. However, some reports speculated that the move would be seen as "unnecessarily provocative" amid growing tensions between the siblings.
