One Florida police officer was seen in a video dragging a woman into a jail during a booking. The Florida cop was identified as Patrol Officer Gregory Damon, who is now fired after the incident.

Tampa Police Department announced on Tuesday that Damon "violated multiple policies" while he was booking the woman into the Orient Road Jail in Tampa.

Damon responded to the Tampa Health Center on November 17 after reporting that there was someone asleep outside the property and was refusing to leave.

Officers found and arrested the adult woman, who had been earlier given a warning for trespassing on the same property, according to the police.

The woman then allegedly refused to get out of the police car and started screaming at the officer upon their arrival at the jail.

The news release reported that the woman yelled at Damon saying, "I want you to drag me."

Damon then reportedly grabbed the woman by the arm and dragged her from the car to the jail door entrance.

Florida Police Video of Woman Dragged

The footage showed that the Florida police officer removed the woman from the vehicle and dragged her across a concrete floor.

He then stopped once to tell her to get up but the woman refused to do, prompting Damon to drag the woman to a doorway and then buzzed for additional police officers to assist him before the body camera video was cut off.

Tampa Police Department released the footage publicly.

The police department noted that the woman repeatedly used vulgar and obscene language throughout the incident. The agency added that Damon also made rude and derogatory comments to the woman instead of remaining professional.

Interim Police Chief Lee Bercaw noted that professionalism is demanded and "not only expected" from their officers when it comes to every encounter with the public regardless of the arrestee's behavior.

Bercaw added that Damon's actions were unacceptable and "are not tolerated at this department."

The interim police chief added that it prompted them to act swiftly on starting an internal investigation, relieving Damon of his duties and terminating his employment.

The police department added that it revised its policy in 2013, forbidding officers from dragging uncooperative suspects on the ground.

Police noted that officers should instead seek assistance from jail booking staff or other law enforcement.

Damon had been part of the force as a patrol officer since August 2016.

Florida Police Chief

In early December, one Tampa police chief made headlines after she was placed on administrative leave for flashing her badge when she was pulled over during a traffic stop.

Tampa Police Chief Mary O'Connor and her husband were driving a golf cart without a license plate when Pinellas County stopped them.

O'Connor pulls out her badge, saying that she is the police chief of Tampa and hopes that the officer will let them go.

The officer then responded that O'Connor looked familiar before letting them drive away.

O'Connor handed the officer a card and said to call her if "you ever need anything."

The Tampa police chief said in a statement that her actions were a result of "poor judgment," adding that she has personally reached out to Pinellas County and offered to pay any potential citation.
