Gabrielle Union Gets Painfully Honest Why She Thought of Cheating While Married to Chris Howard

While married to Chris Howard, Gabrielle Union said she was "entitled" to have an affair due to their "dysfunctional" relationship.

As the 50-year-old actress said on Monday's episode of Dax Shepard and Monica Padman's "Armchair Expert" podcast, "I was paying all the bills, I was working my ass off, and I felt like that is what comes [with it].

Union referred to extramarital affairs as "the spoils of riches," adding her dad said that whoever has the most can do whatever they want.

Union was married to Howard from 2001-2006 and accused the NFL player of cheating, too, according to Page Six.

She joked that neither of them felt their marriage should keep them from dating others.

Part of their relationship was keeping up with his activities, she continued, explaining that "I was like, 'Oh, that's what you're doing? Oh, you're gonna feel this one.'"

Gabrielle Union Cheating: "We Were Dysfunctional From Day One"

The "Bring It On" star admitted to him that when they were together, she was "horny for validation and having certain kinds of guys like me and want me."

Gabrielle Union's honesty about her marriage with the 47-year-old ex-NFL player continued when she said they were "dysfunctional from day one."

Union elaborated that a therapist once expressed confusion about how their toxic relationship had led to marriage.

"[She said] we should probably look for a way to amicably dissolve ... because you have not one thing in common, no morals, no values," Union told Shepard.

"The only thing you have in common is other people, so why don't you just go be with other people?"

The "Bad Boys II" actress continued by saying she wishes she "had more shame" over her earlier infidelity, per Fox News.

She complained that it was such a dumb relationship that it should not have progressed past the dating stage.

Gabrielle Union Also Talks About Her Husband Dwayne Wade

Gabrielle Union married Dwyane Wade in 2014 after she divorced Chris Howard.

Considering the rocky her and Wade's marriage journey took, it is surprising to hear her talk so openly about infidelity.

Lainey Gossip noted that Wade cheated with "Basketball Wives" cast member Aja Metoyer while he and Union were on break. Aja gave birth to Wade's son Xavier, now nine years old.

Aja, who joined "Basketball Wives" in 2017, shared her side of the tale. She claims that her son with Wade was not a "break baby," putting to rest years of speculation about the nature of their relationship and the father of their child.

Meanwhile, Union discussed her fears that her infertility contributed to the breach between her and Dwyane in her memoir, "You Got Anything Stronger?" even though they claimed they were on break due to scheduling conflicts and professional pressures.

As Lainey Gossip pointed out, Wade and Union getting married after his hookup with Aja and the birth of Xavier say a lot about the person, their maturity, and their devotion to their current relationship, and that this is unlike anything she felt toward Howard.

Union thinks it is reasonable to conclude that this is because Dwyane is an all-around wonderful person, a reliable partner, and a fantastic parent.
