Fox News shocked everyone when it announced that it has parted ways with Tucker Carlson. The network did not say if Carlson was fired, but the last episode of his show might have suggested so.

His final "Tucker Carlson Tonight" show was last Friday, and the host clearly expected that he was going back on air the following week as he signed off saying, "We'll be back on Monday; in the meantime have the best weekend."

The network "parting ways" with Carlson comes a week after the company was forced to pay Dominion Voting Systems $787.5 million in a settlement after Carlson and other Fox News personalities helped spread election misinformation, according to USA Today,

Fox News is facing another lawsuit from another voting machine company, Smartmatic, with Carlson being the latest to leave Fox News after airing election lies that Trump was cheated during the 2020 elections.

Previously, Lou Dobbs exited Fox Business shortly after the January 6 Insurrection when Dominion sued Fox News for defamation. Contributor Dan Bongino was also dropped last week. Controversial pro-Trump figures like Jeanine Pirro and Maria Bartiromo are still with the network, though Pirro's program was canceled shortly after the lawsuit was filed.

Tucker Carlson Exit From Fox News Shocked the MAGA World

Tucker Carlson was Fox News's top-rated host prior to his exit, so many saw him leaving as a shock. However, the news of him leaving the conservative network was particularly shocking to people in former President Donald Trump's orbit, according to the New York Times.

Trump himself did not see this coming, a person with knowledge of the situation stated; and Donald Trump Jr., who is a close friend of Tucker Carlson, stated that the network's decision was "mind-blowing."

Don Jr. recently appeared on "The Charlie Kirk Show," and said that Carlson was "an actual thought leader in conservatism" and a "once-in-a-generation type talent." Meanwhile, Fox's shares fell almost 3 percent on Monday following the announcement of the controversial host's departure.

A new Fox News show will replace "Tucker Carlson Tonight" with a rotating roster of guest hosts.

Former Tucker Carlson Producer Is Suing Him

According to The Guardian, the decision to fire Carlson came from Rupert Murdoch himself, and it was in connection to the lawsuit filed by former Tucker Carlson Tonight senior booking producer Abby Grossberg, who claims that she faced sexism and a hostile work environment while working at Fox News.

Grossberg claimed that pictures of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi n a plunging bathing suit were placed on her computer screen and around her workspace during her first day of work. She also claimed that she was coerced into giving misleading testimony in the Dominion lawsuit, even releasing evidence to back it up.

While popular with conservative viewers, Carlson has largely been seen as an extremist and racist for liberals and centrists, with Angelo Carusone, president of Media Matters for America, stating that "Tucker served as the bridge between Fox News and the most extreme parts of the rightwing base - laundering anti-trans paranoia, Infowars nonsense, election lies, and venomous rhetoric including the great replacement conspiracy theory nightly."
