Samir Nasri, a former Manchester City midfielder, has spoken publicly about his time playing under Pep Guardiola, revealing the coach's unusual ways of management that helped Lionel Messi avoid injuries, per GiveMeSport.

Nasri claims that the City manager imposed stringent requirements on the team not limited to the training field.

He spent six years in Manchester and made 176 appearances for the winning team, but he was rarely in Pep Guardiola's training sessions.

It may be surprising that despite Guardiola's reputation for strictness, he has stuck to one rule throughout his managerial career.

Nasri, 35, claimed that Guardiola implemented a post-midnight sex ban, which is beneficial because Lionel Messi had a spotless muscle record.

Since he has maintained his position at the top for nearly fifteen years, it is irrelevant whether you agree with the specifics of his rules.

"It's impossible to play good football if you don't make sex with your partner!" Guardiola's response after his rules became viral. "I would never forbid that. If you're doing it, you play better."

Pep Guardiola's Issue with Samir Narsi

Nasri recalls his first few days of training with the Catalan coach. Nasri and Guardiola were both at Manchester City during the 2016-17 season.

"I do my first training session, everything goes well, he is happy with me," Nasri said.

The following day, Guardiola summoned and yelled at him because of his weight. Guardiola advised him to maintain his weight at 76 kilograms.

However, the Premier League always has a routine to build more muscle, so Narsi had weighed less since he played at Marseille.

He is looking for lean athletes, and Narsi was overweight by four kilograms.

"With Guardiola, if you're 2.5 kilos over, you can't train with the group. So, I trained on my own," Narsi said.

"Guardiola is arrogant, but in the good sense of the word," Nasri said.

Guardiola forced Narsi to train alone until he reached the ideal weight, Football Espana noted.

The tension between Guardiola, a disciplinarian, and Nasri, known for his self-reliance, seemed inevitable. Although Nasri's statements may seem negative at first glance, they do not contradict much of his character.

Since joining City in 2011, Nasri has been integral to the club's Premier League championship runs in 2012 and 2014, according to Bleacher Report.

His dribbling prowess, quick passing, and propensity for significant goals made him an indispensable player at the Etihad Stadium, whether playing on either flank or behind a center forward.

Nonetheless, he had witnessed a significant decline due to injuries. Indeed, he only made four Premier League starts in 2015-16 because Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling were preferred options by former manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi

Pep Guardiola has repeatedly claimed that Lionel Messi is the best football player ever. He thinks the Argentine can surpass the achievements of all the great footballers, said Sportskeeda.

"Everyone has [an] opinion, but nobody can doubt that he's there with the greatest of all time. For me, I've said many times, he's the best. It's difficult to understand that a player can appear and compete what he has done in the last 50 or 70 years."

During his four years in charge of Lionel Messi and Barcelona, Guardiola won two UEFA Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles, and two FIFA Club World Cups.
