CNN has gotten its hands on the Donald Trump leaked tape and released it to the public, showing that the former president admitted to his interviewers that he had classified documents in his possession.

CNN played the clip on "Anderson Cooper 360," which included the moment when Trump indicated to one of the people interviewing him that he was holding a secret Pentagon document with plans to attack Iran.

"These are the papers," Trump was heard saying in the leaked audio. He was reportedly discussing the Pentagon attack plans with people interviewing him for Mark Meadows's book regarding his time as Trump's chief of staff. The ex-POTUS also ironically joked about Hillary Clinton's emails, with Trump saying that the document was "secret information."

"Hillary would print that out all the time, you know. Her private emails," a Trump staffer was heard saying, to which the former president responded, "No, she'd send it to Anthony Weiner," a reference to the former Democratic congressman.

CNN pointed out that the leaked audio disproves the former president's argument during his Bret Baier interview at Fox News that he did not have any classified documents with him.

"There was no document. That was a massive amount of papers and everything else talking about Iran and other things," Trump told Baier, "And it may have been held up or may not, but that was not a document. I didn't have a document, per se. There was nothing to declassify. These were newspaper stories, magazine stories and articles."

Donald Trump Fuming After CNN Leaked Tape of Him Admitting He Had Classified Documents

Soon after CNN released the leaked audio, Trump took to Truth Social to rant about it, calling the audio's release "illegal." He also started ranting about "Deranged Special Prosecutor" Jack Smith and accused the Department of Justice of leaking the audio to CNN.

"The Deranged Special Prosecutor, Jack Smith, working in conjunction with the DOJ & FBI, illegally leaked and "spun" a tape and transcript of me which is actually an exoneration, rather than what they would have you believe," wrote Trump in his post. "This continuing Witch Hunt is another ELECTION INTERFERENCE Scam. They are cheaters and thugs!"

The Independent pointed out that the former president did not explain how the audio leaking might exonerate him, as it disproved his earlier Fox News interview.

Fox News Suggests Donald Trump May Have Been the One Who Leaked the Audio

Meanwhile, over at Fox News, host Steve Doocy suggested that the leaker might be President Trump himself. "You know what? If Trump thinks it's an exoneration of him, perhaps somebody on his side actually did the leaking to CNN and Maggie Haberman," he said on his morning show.

According to The Hill, co-host Brian Kilmeade admitted that Doocy's claims make sense, with Doocy spinning it again, saying, "He's admitting he's got classified documents."

However, should this be true, they are also admitting that Trump may have lied that it was Special Counsel Jack Smith and the DOJ that leaked the audio to CNN, as leaking the audio to blame the DOJ might go back on him.
