Outgoing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley announced that he has taken "appropriate measures" to ensure his safety. The announcement came as he was recently threatened by former President Donald Trump who suggested that the US Army general should be executed over his comments disparaging the ex-POTUS.

Trump has had a history of threatening opponents. While he himself has not carried out attacks on these threats, his supporters have often taken his calls to violence seriously and taken things into their own hands.

Examples include a January 6 rioter who was arrested with explosives near former President Barrack Obama's home after Trump revealed the location where the Obamas were living in Washington DC. Of course, the most infamous example is January 6 where Trump is accused of whipping up the mob to storm the Capitol and "Hang Mike Pence."

Milley was nominated by Trump himself to be the chairman of the Joint Chiefs. However, he and the then-president had a lot of disagreements, with Milley growing concerned about Trump's attempts to hold onto power after losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden.

Lately, Milley accused the former president of belittling a disabled veteran during his swearing-in ceremony. The general picked a wounded veteran and war hero to perform, but Trump was reportedly unhappy with the choice.

The general was then subjected to a wave of attacks from Trump on social media, calling him a "woke train wreck," accusing him of treason, and calling for his execution.

What Did Donald Trump Say About General Mark Milley?

When it was announced that Gen. Mark Milley would be leaving his post soon, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to gloat and say, "This will be a time for all citizens of the USA to celebrate!" He then called the general a "Woke train wreck who, if the Fake News reporting is correct, was actually dealing with China to give them a heads up on the thinking of the President of the United States."

However, in that same post, he then said, "This is an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH!" However, such a comment could also land Trump in legal trouble, according to Yahoo! News.

The threats may be a violation of his release conditions ahead of his two big federal criminal trials in Florida and DC. In both of those cases, he was warned to avoid publicly attacking court officers and potential witnesses on social media. Milley is a potential witness for the Mar-a-Lago documents case.

MAGA Republican Paul Gosar Goes Also Suggested Gen. Mark Milley Should Be Hanged

It was Trump issuing threats against General Milley, his ally, and Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar. The far-right MAGA Republican recently went on what can be called a "homophobic rant" where he also said that the general deserved to be "hung."

Gosar reportedly called Milley "the homosexual-promoting-BLM-activist Chairman of the military joint chiefs," according to Arizona Central. The Arizona representative added unproven conspiracies in his rant, saying, "Of course, we now know that the deviant Milley was coordinating with Nancy Pelosi to hurt President Trump, and treasonously working behind Trump's back" before adding "In a better society, quislings like the strange sodomy-promoting General Milley would be hung."
