The New York Knicks are still waiting for Carmelo Anthony to make a decision on whether he will stay in the Big Apple or move elsewhere this summer.

Anthony, who averaged 27.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game last season, made it clear that he wants to contend for a title next season.

The Knicks are nowhere near becoming a title contender, but newly-hired coach Derek Fisher reportedly told Anthony that the Knicks will be a much better team next season.

Fisher, who met with Anthony on Thursday together with team president Phil Jackson and general manager Steve Mills, is confident that they can turn things around next season after only winning 37 games in the 2013-14 NBA season.

"He wants to win, wants to be successful," Fisher said via ESPN. "The time I had the visit with him I just shared with him we'll be a better basketball team because we'll play the game a better way, play as a team, play with a system and format to allow the game to be easier for him for him and his teammates."

Fisher added, though, that he is unsure whether or not it will be enough to convince Anthony to stay in New York, and the incoming rookie coach is hoping that a decision will be made soon so that the team can make their next moves this offseason.

Aside from the Knicks, Anthony is also considering signing with the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, and the Dallas Mavericks after listening to these teams' recruiting pitch last week.

Among the interested teams, the Knicks have the edge money-wise, since they can offer a maximum five-year deal worth $129 million to Anthony. The Lakers also offered a four-year, $97 million contract - the max deal that other NBA teams can offer to Anthony.

The Knicks expected a decision on Monday, but the 30-year-old superstar remains mum about his plans this summer.

ESPN reported on Wednesday that Anthony is delaying his decision because he is waiting for LeBron James to make his own free agency decision to know if he will have an opportunity to play alongside the four-time NBA MVP.
