Former "Saturday Night Live" star Chris Kattan was sentenced to three years of probation for driving under the influence and crashing his Mercedes into a Department of Transportation vehicle earlier this year.

The 43-year-old actor was arrested back in February on suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed into the rear end of the DOT vehicle around 2 a.m. "The vehicle belonged to a crew conducting maintenance on a guardrail," the New York Daily News reported. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the accident.

On Thursday, Kattan was ordered to pay a $500 fine and attend a three-month alcohol education program and 104 Narcotics Anonymous classes, said Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the Los Angeles city attorney's office, according to the Los Angeles Times.

He is restricted from operating a vehicle with drugs in his system without a valid prescription.

Next month the SNL alum will have to appear in court for a restitution hearing to determine how much he owes the state for damage to the DOT vehicle that he struck.

Kattan, who starred on SNL from 1996 to 2003, was best known for the character Mango.

He also starred in "A Night at the Roxbury" alongside actor Will Ferrell.

Fellow SNL alum Tracy Morgan was also involved in a car crash earlier this year.

The famous comic was critically injured on June 7 when a speeding Wal-Mart truck slammed into his Mercedes limousine, which was carrying him and four others on the New Jersey Turnpike. The collision killed Morgan's longtime friend, comedian James "Uncle Jimmy Mack" McNair, and seriously injured the other passengers, CNN reported.

The 45-year-old "30 Rock" star suffered from broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken femur and a broken leg in the accident. He was hospitalized for two weeks after the crash, and then he spent three weeks recovering in a rehabilitation center. Morgan was finally able to return home in July to undergo intensive outpatient treatment.
