During a recent interview with People, Kendra Wilkinson explained her decision to send her 4-year-old son, Hank IV, away while dealing with the marital issues brought on by her husband Hank Baskett's infidelity.

Back in June, it was reported that Baskett had been cheating on Wilkinson with transsexual model, Ava Sabrina London who sat down with the National Enquirer to expose the details of her and Baskett's affair.

"I met Hank Baskett probably around the 22nd or 23rd of April this year," London told The Enquirer back in June. "He contacted me through a video I had posted on YouTube and we exchanged information."

In June, we reported that on discovering the news of her husband's cheating, the former Playboy model disposed of her wedding ring and went into a violent rage.

However, Wilkinson has now revealed to People that around her initial discovery of the affair, she also made the decision to send her 4-year-old son away to live with Baskett and his parents in New Mexico.

"I allowed him to come back and get Little Hank, because we knew there was going to be this sh*t storm. I had to calm down and really just think logically and figure out what the right thing to do was," she told People. "I was like, 'You need to take him and just hide out for a while.' But what was so hard about it was that I felt I just gave my son away to the man who'd cheated on his family."

People reports that Wilkinson opted to stay with their 4-month-old daughter, Alijah Mary, while she allowed Baskett to take baby Hank -- a moment Wilkinson describes as "the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life."

"It was so gross to me, but I knew in the back of my mind that he's a great father, and is the only one who could protect his son," she said. "If he'd stayed here, he'd have been hounded. If I took him to preschool, to the movies, I would not feel safe. But giving Little Hank to Hank to go to New Mexico was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life."

Wilkinson and Baskett's tumultuous relationship will be aired out on the new season of "Kendra on Top," which premieres on Friday, Oct. 3, at 10/9c on WE TV.
