An upcoming film will be based on the wildly popular mobile game "Angry Birds."

The film, from Rovio Entertainment, has an all-star ensemble cast of veteran comedians and actors, which was revealed on Wednesday. Although the film is not set for release until the summer of 2016, comics are lining up to voice a character in the animated flick.

"Horrible Bosses" star Jason Sudeikis leads the cast as the original angry bird, Red, and "Frozen" actor Josh Gad is voicing his swift yellow bird buddy, Chuck. Danny McBride from "This Is the End" will play Bomb, a volitale member of the group. Along with Sudeikis, fellow SNL-alums Maya Rudolph and Bill Hader will also voice Matilda (Rudolph) and one of the green pig villains (Hader). Peter Dinklage from HBO's "Game of Thrones" will also play the game's infamous Mighty Eagle.

"I'm extremely proud of this cast," says producer John Cohen. "Not only do we have Jason, Josh, Danny, Bill, Maya, and Peter bringing these characters to life, but they're surrounded by an all-star ensemble of emerging comedic talent."

Other notable cast members include a current SNL cast member, Kate McKinnon, Keegan-Michael Key of Comedy central's "Key and Peele," Jillian Bell of "Workaholics," Latin musician Romeo Santos, Tony Hale from "Arrested Development" and stand-up comedians Hannibal Buress and Cristela Alonzo.

The news was revealed by Sony Pictures through a visual teaser on Rovio's massively popular brand.

"With two and a half billion gamers around the world, 'Angry Birds' is one of those brands that can drive massive fan engagement," Dwight Caines, president of theatrical marketing for Sony Pictures, said in a statement. "That's why we wanted to bring this unlock to the fans first."

The cast list was announced only once the game reached "1 billion sling shots."

Directors for the animated film will be Fergal Reilly, who oversaw "Spider-Man 2," and Clay Kaytis, director of "Frozen." The script was created by Jon Vitti of "The Simpsons and "The Office."

"Angry Birds" is scheduled to be released in theaters July 1, 2016.
