The end of the year is upon us, and the winter is coming. Here are two new TV show trailers that could warm you up better than a pumpkin spice latte. ABC just launched the sneak peek of Marvel's "Agent Carter," and Netflix gave its users the debut trailer of  "Marco Polo," the Italian explorer.

Is ABC's "Agent Carter" a spinoff series of "Captain America" the movie franchise? Or is it the spinoff of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D?" It is confusing, yes. But follow this: The Agent Carter character appeared in the first "Captain America" film. The response from the character was more than positive. Then a near 15-minute "one shot" film of "Agent Carter" appeared on the "Iron Man 3" DVD. The response again was more than favorable for the character.

A "one shot" is Marvel's direct-to-video short films.

"Agent Carter" is indeed a spinoff of "Captain America." But the series is expected to tie into "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," the TV series. Agent Peggy Carter is played by Hayley Atwell ("The Duchess" and "The Sweeney").

"Agent Carter" takes place in the 1940s, when Steve Rogers -- Captain America -- has been deemed missing after a crash. Carter will be working with Howard Stark. The story is that Stark's sophisticated weapons have been stolen, and someone is causing havoc with them, CinemaBlend reported.

Carter and her team have been hired by Stark to track down the weapons and find out those who are responsible. Then they must dispose of the weapons and clear Stark's name in the process, CinemaBlend reported. Along for the ride is Stark's loyal butler Jarvis played by James D'Arcy ("Hitchcock" and "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World").

From fighting in the 1940s, now we travel further back in time to the 13th Century. This is Netflix's "Marco Polo." This show chronicles the early times of the legendary Venetian explorer as he traverses across China, New York Daily News reported. Marco arrives in the court of the Emperor Kublai Khan.

The trailer tries to create a mood that matches something similar to HBO's "Game of Thrones," Showtime's "The Tudors" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." Italian actor Lorenzo Richelmy plays the intrepid explorer.

"Marco Polo's" DNA could spell success for Netflix. The show is created by John Fusco, the creator of the "Young Guns" movies and "Hidalgo." And it is executive produced by Daniel Minahan ("Game of Thrones" and "True Blood"), New York Daily News reported. The show is also produced by Netflix and The Weinstein Company.

The trailer for "Agent Carter" gives the audience a glimpse into the world of Carter and her team.

"Marco Polo," the 10 episode miniseries, debuts this year on Netflix on Dec. 12. "Agent Carter" will debut in January 2015 on Tuesdays. "Carter" has so far been given eight episodes.
