Rockstar wants players to try something new. The company has announced that users who choose to repeat missions on Grand Theft Auto Online, the online version of Grand Theft Auto V that comes free with every purchase, will only receive half of the reward money the second time around.

"The first time you play and beat the mission, you will get the full amount. Subsequent replays will see a payout amount reduced by half. This is to keep the game balanced as well as encourage the exploration of new missions and content in the game," Rockstar said on its support page.

Some gamers are saying this is unfair because life in the online version of Los Santos is tough.

"It is expensive to do anything in Los Santos. Ammo and armor are cash sinks any time you use them. Missions have entry fees to even play them. Red t-shirts cost $500," Paul Tassi, a tech contributor for Forbes.com, said. "...Rockstar went with cutting repeat mission cash in half across the board, which feels like surgery with a butcher's cleaver. "

The GTA-makers argue that the price cut is proportional with how easy missions become once users do them repeatedly.

"We understand players do like to enjoy a mission multiple times, so rather than remove the possibility of doing so, we've allowed replays of these missions at a reduced payout," Rockstar said. "Many players can get very good at a mission and beat it much faster in consecutive tries, so we've adjusted these payouts to match that case."

If gamers don't like it, maybe one day they can go back to the first Grand Theft Auto, which its creator is currently remaking into a 3D version.
