Who runs the world? Beyoncé was named the most-searched person in 2013 on the online search engine Bing, dethroning the television reality star Kim Kardashian, who came in right after, ranked as second place.

Queen Bey topped the list in a year as she returned to the glorious musical spotlight after taking a break to give birth to her daughter Blue Ivy with her husband and hip-hop mogul Jay Z. Some of Beyoncé's highlights in 2013 include performing at President Barack Obama's inauguration in January and at the Super Bowl in February, as well as kicking off her "The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour" in April. She also revealed glimpses of her private life with the "Magna Carta" rapper and their baby in a HBO documentary back in February.

The year 2013 was quite memorable for Kim Kardashian, who topped the list in both 2010 and 2012. The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" reality star gave birth to her daughter North West, and got engaged to the "Yeezus" rapper Kanye West.

The female singers Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Madonna dominated the top five of the most-searched list, while Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber, who ranked second place in 2012, dropped to sixth place this year. The "Starships" rapper Nicki Minaj and the twerking pop star Miley Cyrus, who both made the list in 2012, also were in the top ten this year, joined by troubled actress Amanda Bynes coming in at No. 8.

Pop culture certainly led the web searches, except President Obama, who ranked 46th last year, coming in at No. 10 as the only politician in the top ten.
