Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will happen in less than a month and as fans hear more about the iOS 9, MacBook and more, can we expect new iMac hardware?

The 2014 WWDC provided little updates in terms of hardware with its focus on software improvements. Now, according to a new analysis by iMore, we may find ourselves in a similar situation a year later.

Citing the fact that Apple is currently incorporating the Broadwell microprocessors into its line of computer products, the firm is busy playing catch up with the faster processors to introduce yet another upgrade.

Additionally, the next-gen microprocessors, the Skylake chips, won't be unveiled until the August Intel Developer Forum so in terms of internal hardware, Apple looks to have nothing too solid going on in time for the WWDC taking place on June 8 to 12.

MacWorld noted that Apple launched a cheaper iMac variant in June, which didn't do much to reduce the cost of other iMac models that includes the 27-inch variant. The publication went on to report that iMacs are expected to be unveiled sometime soon.

iMac 8K Coming?

Regardless whether a new iMac is announced this WWDC or at a later time in the year, there are speculation that a computer with higher resolution will be hitting the shelves. What makes this tip so exciting is the fact that it was accidentally leaked by Apple partner, LG.

Relaying what was shared over on the LG Display blog last month, MacRumors quoted LG's statement regarding a new iMac:

"It has become clear that Japan is planning to launch an 8K SHV test broadcast and then promptly restructure the UHD service. Apple has also announced that they will release the 'iMac 8K' with a super-high resolution display later this year. Korea is also preparing to offer an 8K service demonstration at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. LG Display displayed a new beacon of the 8K era by revealing their 98-inch 8K Color Prime Ultra HDTV at CES 2015."

After the post, LG took down the article mentioning the 8K iMac quoted above. Currently, Apple's highest resolution desktop computer is the iMac with Retina 5K display with a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels.

Other Apple updates expected to be discussed during the 2015 WWDC include the Apple TV, Beats Music, iOS 9 and OS X 10.11, to name a few. Stay tuned for more on the upcoming 2015 WWDC.
