Anthology series on cable such as "American Horror Story" have led to highly successful ratings, especially for the cable network FX. But now that "AHS" creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have taken their talents to broadcast network Fox with "Scream Queens," there is going to be a new angle that focuses less on the provocative nature of horror and more on the quantity of murder, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The cast of this series features an all-star lineup, which includes "AHS" alum Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Lea Michele and the original scream queen herself, Jamie Lee Curtis.

But here's the revealing twist in the news: There are a total of 25 characters being introduced in the series and there are only four of those characters that will survive the season as planned. That means at least one of the previously mentioned stars is going to die, not to mention the other 20 characters on the kill list.

Others playing a role in the series includes Nasim Pedrad, Oliver Hudson, Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande, Charisma Carpenter ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") and Billie Lourd.

There's other news though: The characters that survive Season 1 will also be in Season 2. But unlike "American Horror Story," the actors will be playing the same characters instead of new ones.

"It's similar to 'American Horror Story' in that it's anthological but different in that at the end of the first season there will only be four characters out of 25 left," Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter. "And those four in season two will go on to a new horror genre -- like a sorority is a horror genre to me, it's a place where there were horror movies in the '80s like 'Sorority Row' -- and they will go on. That's the format of the show."

That's a new twist in the horror anthology series that Murphy started on FX. Every season follows the "AHS" format, except surviving characters from the previous season will be present in the following seasons, not just the same actors playing a different role.

"Scream Queens" will premiere on Fox on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
