He was a contributor in all three of the Heat's NBA Championships. He was with the team when they won one with Shaquille O'Neal in the mid-2000s and Lebron James in recent years.

With all the deals and player movements the Heat organizations had this free agency, he remained a consummate professional, on and off the court. And no, his nickname is not "The Flash" - rather it is "UD." He is none other than Udonis Haslem.

Dwayne Wade and Haslem entered the league in the same year in 2003. While one went on to become a superstar, one remained in the shadows as a solid role player for the team.

This off-season, Wade was no stranger to controversy. His rocky relationship with the organization has been publicly scrutinized. Haslem, meanwhile, has been silently taking part in community programs in his home state of Florida, away from the public eye, until just recently.

HotHotHoops was able to interview the three-time NBA Champion during the 6th Annual Kids Week at the Southland Mall in Florida on Monday. He was at a meet-and-greet event with his fans.

When asked to comment on the Heat's head honcho, Haslem said Pat Riley has done great in rebuilding the team this offseason. "If you're going to put a championship-caliber team together, it has to start up top. I think they've done a great job of putting those kind of pieces together and putting us in the situation of making a run this year," he said.

He was conservative when the Wade situation popped up. Haslem remarked, "I didn't really think much about it. There's two sides to each story and the truth always lies somewhere in the middle. Obviously, I'm a huge, huge fan of Dwyane and he's like my brother and this is an organization that's meant the world to me so I was hoping it would all work out."

Haslem admitted that he hasn't spent much time with the team's new acquisitions but believed that an off-the-court relationship would translate well for them. He speculated that if healthy, they can match up with any team in their conference. "We've got as good a chance to win the East as anybody," he deadpanned.

According to BleacherReport, the Heat have signed former NBA All-Star Amare Stoudemire and high-flying veteran Gerald Green this free agency to pair with Dwayne Wade, Goran Dragic, Hassan Whiteside, and Luol Deng. All-Star Chris Bosh is also expected to suit up for next season after undergoing lung surgery.

Citing multiple reports, ESPN noted in June that the Heat organization is willing to part ways with Mario Chalmers and Chris Andersen for salary cap relief.
