A Fidel Castro special is coming to the Discovery Channel this fall.

According to Deadline, Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic and the American Heroes Channel announced that a Fidel Castro TV special will be airing this fall. The special, which will be called "Castro: The World's Most Watched Man," will present Castro's life through the eyes of the intelligence workers who observed him during his time as Cuban president.

"The timely news of Cuba and the U.S. restoring relations, along with Castro's deteriorating health conditions, opens up a momentous opportunity for us to document this iconic and unfolding story," said Kevin Bennett, the executive vice president and general manager of the American Heroes Channel.

"AHC is dedicated to telling the stories of not just heroes but all of history's most legendary characters."

According to TBI Vision, Enrique Martinez, president and managing director of Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic, stated that this documentary will offer a unique perspective on Castro.

Martinez said, "Without a doubt, Fidel Castro is a controversial figure who has had an impact on generations of Cubans in and outside the island, as well as many people across Latin America. This original production will deliver a unique perspective into the character of this polemic leader that is bound to spark robust discussions regarding his legacy and place in history."

Former intelligence officials and Cuban exiles will be interviewed on the show, according to Deadline. Featured individuals include Brian Latell, a former intelligence officer who tracked Castro from 1964 until Castro's resignation in 2008.

Castro served as the prime minister of Cuba from 1959 until 1976, when he became president. He resigned from the presidency in 2008 due to health reasons. His brother, Raul is the current president of Cuba.

The TV special will examine Castro's cold relationship with the United States during his time as president, perhaps most clearly revealed in an incident on April 17, 1961, when the United States failed to overthrow Castro in the Bay of Pigs invasion.
