Details as to the release and specifications of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 are still in the air as Samsung has not officially given a statement on the new product.

There are different rumors flying about but according to experts, the new phablet could be released by the 3rd quarter of this year. While there is no clear release date, Samsung executives hinted during the Semiconductor and Display technology seminar that the new device may be released by this fall. Should this be an accurate reading of tech insiders, analysts predict that Samsung is pegging the launch by September or October of this year.

The predecessor of the new product, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was released in September of 2013 and following this pattern, the Note 4 may be released during the same period this year.

Anticipation continues to build there is also word that Note 4 could feature a YOUM three-sided display technology. Lee Young Hee, Samsung's mobile chief executive has previously confirmed that the new device would be sporting a three-sided display screen allowing users to read messages on their phone in various angles.

The Korean company's concept of this display would entail the screen basically wrapping around the edges of the phone allowing for different tasks including media player controls, messaging and notification information.

Supplementary to this three-sided display would be the flexible OLED technology that was demonstrated back at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. Samsung has reportedly invested almost US$ 2 billion on the flexible OLED displays. There are also claims that Samsung will be looking into folding devices but will need a parallel development in battery technology to be fruitful.

If this types of technology interests you, Ubergizmo notes that reports claim Samsung will only be producting a million units to test the waters.
