Grand Theft Auto V fans have been demanding a PC version of the game since it was released last year. According to game developer Take-Two Interactive, however, there is no need to release another version of Grand Theft Auto yet. Still, release dates for the unannounced PC game continue fluttering around the web.

Take-Two Interactive recently stated that it has no plans to release another Grand Theft Auto this year. The game developer says it does not feel the need to saturate the market with Grand Theft Auto titles.

"A few years ago, we'd launch a title, it would be sold physically, then we would sell catalogue versions of it," Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two Interactive CEO, said in an interview with MCV. "Today we launch a title, and often, if not always, put out DLC. We've talked about recurrent consumer spending, where we have offerings where fans can engage and spend money on an on-going basis."

Zelnick said that Grand Theft Auto Online has made the necessity for more Grand Theft Auto Games even smaller.

"It is great that consumers anticipate our titles, like they anticipate the next James Bond film," he said. "Our goal is to create permanent franchises."

With such strong and persistent demand for a PC version of Grand Theft Auto V, profit seems an obvious reason to comply. Zelnick, on the other hand, says that Grand Theft Auto Online is already a good source of money for Take-Two Interactive.

"Seventy percent of people that have played GTA V while online have played GTA Online, which is a free-to-play experience, and recurrent consumer spending, which includes GTA Online revenue, represented nearly half of our digitally delivered revenue in the quarter," Zelnick explained. "So people are voting that they want to stay engaged, and they are voting with their wallets."

Does Grand Theft Auto Online's ability to bring in the cash mean that Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games have no need for Grand Theft Auto PC?

International retailers appear to claim otherwise.

For the past few weeks, PC gamers have found hope in Amazon, whose Germany store has a listing for Grand Theft Auto V PC, and whose French site used to have the same. Amazon Germany lists Grand Theft Auto V PC as compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Vista but does not list minimum system requirements. The game is priced at 60 euros. In addition, Czech retailer SuperGamer recently added the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One to its website. It claims the games will be available starting June 13. Fans say the rumor has at least some credibility as June 13 is a Friday, a popular day for developers to release games.
