After a great first season with Manchester United that saw him win the Premier League title and the EPL Golden Boot Award, it has not been a good few years for Dutch striker Robin Van Persie. In his next two seasons at Old Trafford, he was hampered by a barrage of injuries to his groin, hamstring, knee and ankles, per Transfermarkt.

The 32-year-old was then sold by Louis Van Gaal to Turkish club Fenerbahce this summer for a reported £4 million. 101 Great Goals reports that the Dutch international is unhappy in Turkey as he looked lazy during warm-ups.

He was also the laughing stock during the Netherlands' failure to qualify for Euro 2016 as he scored an own goal header in their 3-2 loss against Czech Republic. Arsenal fans that are still angry at him for leaving the club trolled their former star on Twitter as reported by The Daily Star.

But it looks like good things are coming for van Persie as Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona is interested in signing the striker. Sports Mole translated the report, saying that the Catalan club is planning a January transfer move for van Persie as Barcelona technical secretary Roberto Fernandez was in attendance at the Netherlands versus Czech Republic in the Amsterdam Arena last Tuesday evening.

The report added that Fernandez was scouting RVP, further fuelling the rumors of him being unhappy in Turkey as he has only played one full 90-minute match since joining the Turkish-club and has been on the bench most of the time.

101 Great Goals also reported that Barcelona is keen to signing more players in January because of a number of injuries, especially to Leo Messi, and they believe that RVP could be signed in a very cheap price. But it is also noted that the club is still worried about his form and coach Luis Enrique prefers signing Celta Vigo forward Nolito.

The defending La Liga champions have a depleted squad since the Messi injury, add the hole that Pedro left when he signed to Chelsea. Forward Arda Turan and winger Aleix Vidal are coming to play in January after the FIFA ban is lifted, but Barcelona is still looking at other options. In a report by Barca Blaugranes, among other candidates are Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan, Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho and Valencia's Shkodran Mustafi.

Bleacher Report added that Barcelona is also looking at Valencia's 22-year-old phenom Andre Gomes and Dynamo Kyiv's Andriy Yarmolenko.
