San Diego Padres baseball player Matt Kemp has officially said goodbye to his expansive retreat home in Arizona.

Kemp, the 31-year-old outfielder, sells his Paradise Valley estate for nearly $3.14 million, Los Angeles Times reported. The Major League Baseball athlete has tried to offer the home initially for $3.5 million in May, but it appeared an almost $360,000 drop from his asking price would not hurt that much. After all, the player reportedly bought it only for $2.05 million, five years ago, enough for him to rake in more than a million dollars as profit.

The two-time All-Star baseball player commissioned Daniel Williams of Sunbelt Realty & Business Advisors as his listing agent while Michael Kupanoff of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Arizona Properties served as the buyer's representative in the real estate deal finalized in August, the Times noted.

The 6,700-square-foot desert house, resting in more than an acre of land, features five and a half bathrooms and four bedrooms, including a master suite equipped with a two-way fireplace, two walk-in closets and a master bath that comes with a spa-like shower.

Other living areas found in the residence include a living room, a dining room, a family room, an office, an entertainment room, a "movie theater with stadium seating," a wine storage, a wet bar and a renovated kitchen.

The interiors of the luxury abode are highlighted with sleek steel finishing, spanning glass panels to take in the beautiful view outside and to let the rays of sunshine in as well as more light fixtures to enhance the ambiance even more.

The next owners will not have to worry inviting some friends around as they can also share them the property's "resort-style swimming pool" measuring 60-feet long that completes the extensive grounds. There is also an outdoor kitchen that can be used to make light snacks during such parties. Other amenities like a sports court and lounging areas are also showcased on the carefully-maintained grounds.

New start in San Diego

Kemp has only played for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the last nine seasons, since he entered the league in 2006, per ESPN stats. In December 2014, he was traded to the Padres, MLB.com reported.

Sports Illustrated described him as "the best player on the planet" for "a year and a month." He shone particularly in 2011 when he hit .324 and delivered "39 home runs, 126 RBIs and 40 steals."

Although he moved to the Padres and even though he may not duplicate his feat that fateful year of 2011, he will still be cherished by his fans, whom he showed kindness and even compassion as seen on this video uploaded on YouTube.
