The San Antonio Spurs are gearing up for another "championship or bust" season. This team has accomplished so much since 1999: five titles and six NBA Finals appearances.

Still, there's no denying the elephant in the room; the Spurs are an old bunch. Time is running out for the Spurs to hoist another NBA Championship trophy, and the rest of the league is catching up. Last season ended with disappointment. Gregg Popovich's squad lost their final game of the season and dropped from a No. 2 seed in the Western Conference all the way down to the No. 6 spot.

This offseason the Spurs made the biggest addition of any team by signing free agent LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge should fit in beautifully with the Spurs system this season. It may take a while to get used to the settings, but the 30-year-old forward should be just fine. The most underrated signing of the offseason may very well have been David West. West opted out of an $11 million player option with the Indianapolis Pacers to instead join the Spurs for much less. West has made it well known that he wants to win now.

The departure of Brazilian center Tiago Splitter was a tough one, but the Spurs have shown time and time again they can regroup and adapt. Splitter was a great player for the Spurs, but he failed to stay healthy, and they traded him to the Atlanta Hawks in order to save salary cap space.

The biggest x-factors heading into this season will be Danny Green and Manu Ginobili. Green is an excellent three point shooter who made a career high 191 perimeter shots last season. The Spurs will need Green to once again make shots from the outside continuing their balanced offense. As for Ginobili, last season wasn't the greatest for the Argentine shooting guard. Ginobili is regarded as the greatest South American-born player in NBA history, but his shooting percentage and scoring was slightly down last season. Ginobili is one of the best bench players in the league, and there's where Popovich will need him most- filling in for others late in games.

Marco Belinelli is no longer with the Spurs, so Green and Ginobili's three point shooting this season will be crucial.

Kawhi Leonard has increased his scoring average all four seasons in the league, and he's set for another great year with the silver and black. Leonard may just be the best on ball defender in the NBA, but it would be nice to see him score the basketball more frequently. With all that being said, everything still revolves around Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. Duncan and Parker have been the best at what they do for quite some time. Duncan seems to never get effected by age, but Parker is always a concern because of health.

The Spurs have a deep roster, but it's a tough Western Conference. Nothing is guaranteed with competitive teams like the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies. If the Spurs do go on to win it all this year for a sixth time, it could very well be the last we see Duncan in the NBA as a player.
