Brock Lesnar was the most recent guest on the "Live: Stone Cold Podcast" at the WWE Network, where he was asked about a variety of topics including the botched Shooting Star Press against Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 19. Lesnar did not name the person that talked him into doing the dangerous move during the podcast with Steve Austin.

"The Beast" added that he was not being selfish at that time, wanting to create a WrestleMania moment even though some veterans were telling him not to do it, per What Culture. In a recent interview with Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc, Angle revealed that he was behind the idea of the move.

"That was my idea. I will take responsibility for Brock doing that. At the time, I had to leave WWE. I had a broken neck and was going to have surgery, so I wanted to do something that people would remember. I asked Brock to do the Shooting Star Press, which he had done many times in OVW. I just thought it would be a great way to end the show," Angle said.

"Unfortunately, Brock came up short. I think I was a little too far away, and Brock kind of double guessed before he went. I know that Brock didn't necessarily want to do it, but we did practice it earlier in the week and he was doing it perfectly well," he added.

In his autobiography, "DeathClutch," Lesnar said that his boot slipped off the wet rope, causing him to under rotate during the Shooting Star Press. He crashed head first into the mat, nearly breaking his neck and suffering a severe concussion, per Wrestle Zone.

He added that he was thankful that he had enough sense of his surroundings to finish the match. Although he can't remember most of the ending, he was able to hit Angle with the F5 to win his second WWE Championship. The next morning was worst for him as he was throwing up and showed symptoms of a concussion.

According to a separate report by Wrestle Zone, it was former WWE senior vice president of Talent Operations John Laurinaitis who suggested that Lesnar executes the high-risk move. It is known for a while now that he could execute the maneuver since his OVW days in 2001 and former producer Jim Cornette was the one who told Brock to do it during big moments.
