Brandy is back on BET, where she is starring in a new romantic comedy that is set to premiere in January.

"Zoe Ever After" is about a woman who just went through a divorce and is starting a new life. Fans will laugh while watching Brandy's character balance dating and motherhood, all while chasing her dream of owning a cosmetics line.

In the promo for the first episode, Zoe (Brandy) is a boss at her job, but her love life and her family life are in pieces. Things appear so desperate, a friend tries to hook her up with a guy from a dating app whose profile picture is a mugshot. In another scene, she forgets that she has a parent teacher conference, but blames her assistant.

At the end of the promo, Zoe's assistant approaches her with the idea of using Lupita Nyong'o as the face of their brand. Zoe looks a bit jealous, as her assistants describe Nyong'o as the younger, more attractive alternative to their boss. Will she find a new lover or rekindle her relationship with her ex?

Brandy has been out of the spotlight for some time, after once playing Chardonnay on BET's "The Game." Now she's back on the network, showing the world that she is not a has-been.

The "Have You Ever" singer came back over the summer with new goals and projects.

"Recently, Frank Silent and I took a little subway ride after I'd left the gym. Frank, his camera, and I always equal a good time," Brandy wrote in a blog post on July 13. "I decided to hit the subway and sing my little heart out. You've GOTTA check out this video and see why this fun-filled morning left me asking: Can a Sistah get ONE fan?!"

Though she jokes about anonymity, Brandy is back and ready to take over.
