The 2014 British Open is two days underway at the Royal Liverpool Golf in England. The first two days have been very exciting for golf fans around the world. Latinpost.com breaks down the biggest stories of the first round including Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, and Tiger Woods.
Back in 2008, director Jon Favreau was a hero. The auteur had just given the world the first "Iron Man" movie. He already had a proven track record with a number of other major hits, but "Iron Man" seemed like a new beginning for the filmmaker. However, his place in Hollywood was not a particularly stable one. Just a few years later his "Iron Man" sequel was blasted critically; a year later his "Cowboys & Aliens" flopped critically and at the box office. The fall seemed swift for the filmmaker. But Favreau has not given up. He has returned to his roots of indie film-making with "Chef," arguably his most autobiographical film to date.
"Neighbors" is everything you would want out of a summer movie. While admittedly unrealistic in some of its wilder antics, the film manages to blend hilarity and entertainment with some emotional depth and unique characters. The performances, particularly that of Efron, are top-notch in every respect.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is enjoyable on the strength of the performances alone, but the film unfortunately fails on a number of other fronts. The story, while showing tremendous potential and some thematic cohesiveness, does not really illuminate its characters as well as it sets out to do and at the end of the day, it comes off as a retread of a plethora of other comic book movies with the Spider-Man brand attached to it.
This "Cosi Fan Tutte" had everything working for it. The singers were not only at the top of their games but managed to create complex portrayals of the iconic characters while maestro Levine conducted an exciting account of Mozart's ever-fascinating score. The season is winding down, and this is the perfect way to say goodbye to what has been a successful run of performances in 2013-14.
It was back in 2012 when Google launched its Nexus tablet. The 7-inch tablet became an instant hit and immediately competed head on with other tablet producers. However, it has been over a year since the original Nexus tablet was produced, and we have yet to see a follow-up. In the world of tablets, this means a lot as more powerful devices with better features have been released since then.
Movie-goers have a salvo of Biblical movies this year. To start off this year's list is Noah with Russell Crowe in the lead role, which opened last Thursday in cinemas on 2-D and IMAX. This was preceded by 20th Century Fox's Son of God and will be followed by Ridley Scott's Exodus later this year.
