Lindsay Lohan has claimed that customs officials at Heathrow Airport targeted her. The reason being she was wearing a headscarf.

According to Daily Mail, Lohan talked about the incident on "Good Morning Britain". The panel consisted of Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

"When I was flying to New York recently, I was wearing a headscarf and I got stopped at the airport and was racially profiled for the first time in my life," Daily Mail quoted Lohan saying. "She opened my passport and saw Lindsay Lohan and started apologizing but said 'take off your head scarf'."

Lohan further added that she did take off her scarf and that was okay for her. However, she was really scared at the moment.

The 30-year old stated that although she was alright about taking off her headscarf but there are women who don't feel comfortable doing that. Lohan said that it was interesting to think about it because she herself was in a shock by the whole ordeal.

Lohan continued that she is not sure why she was stopped and asked take off her headscarf. The custom officer double checked everything until she realized.

The incident was very jarring and strange to Lohan and she was a little intimidated. She stated that she was born and brought up in New York and her harassment freaked her out.

According to Fox News, Lohan chose to wear the head garment out of respect as she was coming from Turkey. She met Turkey's President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on her trip to the country. Lindsay Lohan explained that after her Turkey visit she did not take it off because it made her less recognizable to paparazzi and fans.

 A representative for Heathrow told Daily Mail that the airport "respects the cultural and religious needs of all passengers travelling through the airport." The rep added that authorities work very hard to make sure the passengers are provided great service and are safe and secure at the same time.
