Apple's iOS 7 operating system has caused headaches for jailbreakers, and now it appears the latest 7.1 update is a difficult one to crack for the Evad3rs.

The Evad3rs hacking group has been the driving force behind iOS jailbreaks over the years, even as Apple has ramped up its security in order to prevent the Evad3rs from cracking the code. The group has taken longer to jailbreak each subsequent version of iOS, and most recently the jump to iOS 7.1 has proven to be problematic for the group since they have not yet come out with an update. According to the group's website, their jailbreak is only compatible on "iPad and iPad mini models running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.6."

Some people have started to speculate about future plans for Evad3rs. Are they shifting their focus from iOS 7 to iOS 8 with hopes that they can get a jailbreak faster than they did on iOS 7? As we look ahead to the summertime and into the fall, it is more than likely that Apple will release iOS 8 in 2014. The only question remaining is whether Apple bolsters its security to the point where the Evad3rs will be unable to release a new jailbreak.

Although iOS 7 was released in September, the jailbreak was not released until December -- just before the year ended. Even with that considered, the Evad3rs said that they released the jailbreak earlier than they had initially planned.
