Those dreaming of the Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro partnership have some good fortune.

The notable video game director recently stated that he will turn his attention to an "edgier" title and is still hoping to get some time to work with the famed Mexican film director at some point in the future.

"I have no idea what I'll be working on with him, if it'll be a game, a movie, anime, but someday I definitely want to create something with him," Kojima stated in an interview with IGN when asking about the prospect of working with del Toro.

He added the two had discussions about working together intermittently.

Del Toro and Kojima were slated to work together on a Silent Hill project, but it never came to fruition. Instead Kojima wound up leaving Konami after finishing the most recent Metal Gear Solid game and is now moving toward making his own independent projects.

Norman Reedus recently stated that he was hoping to see the two work together and del Toro has also stated his desires to collaborate with the legendary Kojima. That said, del Toro has seemingly written off video games so it is possible that their collaboration will come in the form of a motion picture. Kojima's Metal Gear Solid games were known for their extensive cut scenes, often lasting over an hour in length.

Del Toro's next project remains unknown. The filmmaker recently released his gothic romance "Crimson Peak" and turned in the script and budget for his "Pacific Rim" sequel. There is no knowing if that project will get greenlit. The filmmaker is also waiting to see if the third "Hellboy" film will get a shot at being made. The trilogy remains incomplete and the filmmaker is still interested in completing the saga; however the studios have yet to show him the proper backing to get the project off the ground.
