New COVID relief bill

The news of the new COVID relief bill follows weeks after the president has signed the $1.9 trillion budget, according to The U.S. Sun. It can be remembered that the $1.9 trillion budget is intended for different expenditures such as $1,400 stimulus checks for the Americans, the funding for reopening the schools, and even reinforcing the efforts of the federal government in the COVID vaccine roll.

"When the president advocated for the American Rescue Plan, he talked about this being two stages: rescue then recovery," said White House press secretary Jen Psaki. Psaki noted that the Americans will hear the first step of the president's plan on recovery. The said bill will also include investments and infrastructure.

More than 60 members of Congress are urging President Biden to back a fourth stimulus check because they say that many Americans are still struggling more than a year into the COVID crisis. "One more check is not enough during this public health and economic crisis," said the letter sent by the House Democrats. The said letter was signed by 50 Democratic representatives and 11 members of the Senate. The letter does not suggest any amount.

A U.S. Bureau and Labors Statistics study suggested that many Americans have utilized their stimulus checks for their bills like rents, groceries, and other basic needs. The study is based on the first stimulus check amounting to $1,200.

New COVID relief bill's focus

The New COVID relief bill will focus on issues like healthcare and women. "It's a crisis right now," said Jen Psaki pointing out the number of women who have left their job because of the pandemic. Apart from the healthcare, childcare will also be addressed on the new COVID relief bill.

Meanwhile, Senior Democrats are proposing about $3 trillion in new spending on jobs and infrastructure bills. The proposed bill will become the foundation or basis of President Biden's "Build Back Better" program.

The said new COVID relief bill and the Democrats' infrastructure bill are assured by Psaki to be two different proposals. Psaki pointed out that they will work with the Senate and the House to determine how these proposals should move forward.

President Biden is expected to elaborate on the infrastructure package on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the final package or amount of the new COVID relief bill is not yet finalized and is still worked out by the administration.
