Where Will Uruguay's Edinson Cavani Join After Manchester United?

As Cavani's plan to leave Manchester United after his contract with the club expires continues, the Italian journalist noted that the Uruguay Premier League star plans to enter La Liga, per Clutch Points.

The outlet furthered that other South American clubs tried to approach him for a potential move.

According to Romano, one of the teams that have approached the Uruguay Premier League star was the Argentine giants, River Plate, Beinsports reported.

However, Romano pointed out that Cavani is not interested in a potential move with the said football club, saying: "no way."

River plate was not the only team that was linked with Cavani in connection to his transfer. It can be recalled that before joining Manchester United, the Uruguay star was linked to a move with Atletico Madrid, Beinsports mentioned.

According to Clutch Points, among the top soccer leagues in Europe, only La Liga and Bundesliga were the ones Cavani has not yet played in. The outlet noted that it might be one of the reasons why Cavani is eyeing to make a move in Spain.

Although talks about Cavani's possible transfer in a La Liga team surface, the striker has not yet officially commented and voiced out his plans as his Manchester United contract nears its expiration.

Uruguay Premier League Star Edinson Cavani on Manchester United

Cavani joined Manchester United through a free transfer in October 2020.

He proved that he is worthy of the transfer with Manchester United, as he accumulated 19 goals and seven assists during his 55 appearances on the field with the club, per Mirror.

However, Cavani struggled to play soccer during the last two seasons. According to Clutch Points, the Uruguayan striker played only 12 games and made only two goals during the 2021-2022 season.

Sports Illustrated mentioned that Cavani's injuries may be a factor for the player's minimal contribution to Manchester United.

The Red Devils is not the only soccer club Cavani has joined.

Before his career in Manchester United, Cavani was with Paris Saint-Germain for seven years. During his stay with the team, he scored at least 138 league goals. Reports also noted that Edinson Cavani scored in double digits in six of his seven years with Paris Saint-Germain.
