SNAP benefits payments have been extended for some states until September while one state has decided to continue the SNAP benefits payments through November 18. KHON 2 News reported that Hawaii Gov. David Ige signed the fourth emergency proclamation on September 19.

Ige noted that food insecurity "is just one of the lingering effects of the pandemic," adding that food stamp payments allow Hawaii families to provide nutritious food on their tables.

DHS noted that all renewal interviews should be completed by phone, and recipients needing assistance with the process or information about the status of recertification should call the Public Assistance Toll Free Information Line at 1-855-643-1643.
