Angelina Jolie said Brad Pitt grabbed her by the head, shook her, choked one of their kids, and struck another in the face when they tried to defend her during a trip in 2016.

According to NPR, Tuesday's court filing included the actress' descriptions of abuse on the private flight. The cross-complaint that Jolie filed was connected to their dispute over a French home and winery they co-owned. It is reportedly separate from their ongoing divorce, which she sought soon after.

The legal documents noted that due to the "pain Pitt inflicted on the family that day," the actress and her six children have not been able to return to their French estate Chateau Miraval. A representative for Brad Pitt had vehemently denied Angelina Jolie's allegations, calling them "another rehash that only harms the family."

FBI Investigated Brad Pitt For Abuse Allegations

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigated Brad Pitt for alleged child abuse after the flight. The "Maleficent" star showed federal authorities the pictures of the bruises she said were caused by the "Fight Club" star's alleged attack, Page Six reported.

The images reportedly show injuries on Angelina Jolie's hand, elbow, and back. The FBI has reviewed the circumstances and concluded not to pursue criminal charges against Pitt due to "several factors," the report said.

However, in the new countersuit, the actress argued that the FBI agent who probed the allegations had "probable cause to charge" the actor with "a federal crime for his conduct."

Sources close to Pitt told TMZ on Wednesday that the actress' "rehashed" allegations were an attempt to alienate her six kids from their dad. The insiders also said that even though the abuse claims had "zero" to do with the lawsuit, Jolie wrote about them in "great detail" in her countersuit.

Last August, Jolie filed a lawsuit against the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act for withholding information about Pitt's alleged abuse. The actress questioned why the investigation into Pitt was closed after physical and verbal assault allegations in September 2016.

The lawsuit demanded that the FBI turn over documents related to the probe after Jolie alleged that she and their children were "physically and verbally abused" by Pitt while aboard the private plane.

"Ms. Doe has been seeking the withheld information for [several] years in an effort to ensure that her children receive qualified... care and... counseling to address the harm suffered... Information withheld by DOJ and the FBI contains evidence of the harm," Jolie's complaint reads.

The complaint noted that the persistent denial of that information to the actress, who was a victim of the assault herself, has continued to hamper her efforts to obtain the necessary ongoing care and medical attention for her children. It added that it had also further harmed the "children in the family law system."

But a source close to Pitt told CNN at the time that "all parties have had this information for nearly six years and was used in previous legal proceedings." The insider added that "there is nothing new here, and serves no purpose other than being a media stunt meant to inflict pain."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Fights Over Their French Chateau and Winery

Angelina Jolie filed the cross-complaint in response to the lawsuit Brad Pitt filed against the actress over the sale of her stake in their French chateau. Pitt and Jolie are at odds over the actress' decision to sell her share of their co-owned Chateau Miraval winery in France.

Last year, Jolie sold to Tenute del Mondo, a division of the Stoli Group run by Russian businessman Yuri Shefler, her share of the winery, CNN reported.

Pitt earlier said that Jolie "did nothing to drive the growth" of the business, which he claimed he turned into a "multimillion-dollar international success story." Pitt sued Jolie in February, claiming that he and Jolie had agreed that neither would sell without the other's consent.

However, in her countersuit, Jolie said there was no agreement like that, and she sold her share of the vineyard to become "financially independent" from Pitt and to end this "very stressful and sad chapter of her and their children's lives."
