As of October 21, only 11 states and D.C announced the extension of their emergency SNAP allotments through November 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Yahoo Finance reported that New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that the state will be extending its emergency allotment of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance benefits into November 2022.

Hochul noted in a news release that the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance will provide the emergency benefits at least through February 2023.

Supplemental payment of at least $95 will be given to households already near or at the maximum benefit level.

The New York governor said in a statement that the emergency supplemental benefits have been vital to their efforts to fight food insecurity by helping struggling New Yorkers put meals on their tables.

Other states that have extended their emergency SNAP allotments include the District of Columbia, Kansas, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, West Virginia, Oregon, and Wisconsin.

SNAP Benefits New Mexico

New Mexico's Food and Nutrition Service estimated that 258,474 households will be receiving the SNAP emergency allotments for November 2022.

The state has also noted that the amount of emergency allotment benefits issued per month is worth $40,987,068.

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act allowed emergency allotments to SNAP households to help address temporary food needs during the pandemic. It was imposed in March 2020.

In September, the New Mexico Human Services Department announced an additional $391 to families who received pandemic EBT cards to cover meals for public school students.

New Mexico sent $89 million to more than 227,700 families in their Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer card with money intended to cover food costs from the summer.

SNAP Benefits Payments

Florida's P-EBT was first issued in October and will last through November 2022, according to the Florida Department of Children and Families.

The payment will give each eligible student a one-time summer 2022 P-EBT benefit of $391.

The summer 2022 P-EBT will also be issued for children under age six in Florida, particularly those receiving SNAP assistance during the summer and are participating in a childcare setting, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando News report.

Meanwhile, those waiting for their SNAP benefits in November can see an increase after a 12.5% cost-of-living adjustment was approved for the fiscal year 2023. The increase will be applied until Sept. 30, 2023.

SNAP benefit payments are made through EBT cards instead of food stamps. However, some states have given their EBT cards a different name.

The EBT cards work just like debit cards, which can be swiped at checkout in grocery stores, participating retailers, and other outlets.

SNAP recipients will need to enter their PIN to complete the transaction.

The release of food stamp benefits varies per state. Some states release the payments on the same date of every month, while others use a staggered schedule for the SNAP benefits distribution.
